چکیده
Hazel (Corylus avellana) is easily attacked by Curculio nucum L. To better understand the physiological mechanisms underlying different resistance of cultivars to C. nucum, we determined insect-resistant compounds, plant hormones contents, and enzyme activities in nutshells three hazel (DW, B21, MZ) before (preexisting defense) after (induced chewing. The findings demonstrated that differed significantly (p < 0.05): damage rate MZ with 17.57% was highest, followed DW (11.23%), then B21 (7.15%). contents compounds (total terpenoid, tannin, total phenol, flavonoids, cellulose, lignin) varied cultivars, both chewing, except for cellulose lignin induction. level defense hazelnut enhanced due Pearson correlation results revealed negatively correlated jasmonic acid (JA) (R2 = 0.812), SOD 0.671), salicylic (SA) 0.878), terpenoids 0.774), positively flavonoids 0.696), celluloses 0.501), POD 0.758), abscisic (ABA) 0.978). related not but ratio cellulose-to-lignin 0.703). Our suggested against attack responded improving nutshells. A particular provides most effective physical structural properties

Biological Control of Hazelnut Weevil (Curculio nucum L., Coleoptera, Curculionidae) Using the Entomopathogenic Fungus Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) Vuill. (Deuteromycotina, Hyphomycetes)
The need to biologically control phytophagous insects has led researchers to consider using microorganisms to control insect pests in the field. On this basis, we decided to conduct field tests to determine the effectiveness of a commercial product made of Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) against the key hazelnut pest Curculio nucum L. Trials were carried out in a hazelnut orchard in the province of ...

Tart cherry, Prunus cerasus L. variety Montmorency, fruit were infested with plum curculio, Conotrachelus nenuphar (Herbst) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), and treated with insecticides to target late instars, neonates, and eggs. The organophosphates azinphos-methyl and phosmet and the neonicotinoid thiamethoxam reduced larval emergence rates by >90% for all life stage targets; after >30 d, few su...

Plum curculio, Conotrachelus nenuphar (Herbst), is a quarantine pest of many temperate fruits, such as pomes, Malus spp.; stone fruits, Prunus spp.; and blueberries, Vaccinium spp.; in North America east of the Rocky Mountains and a small area in Utah. There are two strains, a northern univoltine one that undergoes obligate diapause as an adult and a southern multivoltine strain that usually ha...
متن کاملLethality of reduced-risk insecticides against plum curculio (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) in blueberries, with emphasis on their curative activity.
BACKGROUND Historically, management of plum curculio, Conotrachelus nenuphar (Herbst), in highbush blueberries has focused on post-bloom broad-spectrum insecticide applications targeting the adults. Here, the efficacy of different classes of insecticides against various stages of C. nenuphar was compared, and a prebloom treatment with the chitin synthesis inhibitor novaluron in combination with...
متن کاملSusceptibility of fruit from diverse apple and crabapple germplasm to attack by plum curculio (Coleoptera: Curculionidae).
Plum curculio, Conotrachelus nenuphar (Herbst) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), is an important apple, Malus domestica Borkh., pest that significantly hinders sustainable apple production in eastern North America. The potential for host plant resistance to plum curculio among apple germplasm has never been rigorously evaluated. Thus, studies were conducted to assess the susceptibility of a number o...
